Starting a Photography Business: Stock Photos
by Alex
(Namibia)
Reader Post: Starting a photography business is both easier and more difficult than what people might think. I bought a stock-photography course with stars in my eyes and have been submitting all my best images to stock agencies. Yes, a lot of images have been accepted and yes, I've even made a few bucks. That's the easy part. The difficult part is to transform this into a real business... to produce enough quality photos to actually make a living.
I would like to read a lot more about starting a photography business - I would LOVE to make a full time living out of photography. Yet I've learnt that I'm probably a long way off from leaving my day job.
In the end starting a photography business is about educating yourself, finding creative ways to make your mark as a photographer, producing quality work on a consistent basis - and perseverance.
You just won't make it in this field if you don't have a real passion for it. I wish everyone starting a photography business the very best of success!
