Sensual Female Photography

Welcome to my sensual female photography page.

(Go Back to Sensual Portrait Photography Tips 1 - 5)

Visual interpretation of the human form, whether in art or photography, has always been fascinating. Female form photography is particularly popular. The infinite variety of body shapes combined with a variety of settings and props afford a myriad opportunities for creating imaginative pictures.

Sensual Portrait Photography Tips # 6: Use props

Sensual Female Photography The right props in female form photography can sometimes enhance a portrait greatly. Imagination and a clear sense of what you want to achieve is essential. For example, sun glasses and jewellery can be very effective for enhancing shapes or creating a particular mood.

Keep in mind that in sensual female photography, the exciting visual incongruity between the human form and inanimate objects can be captivating. Create an element of surprise, for example direct your model to do an everyday job like watering the plants in the nude.

You can also use other techniques to create special looks, for example body painting, as you can view in my body art gallery, or greasing the model's body with baby oil or Vaseline, which will make it look smooth and shimmering.

Sensual Portrait Photography Tips # 7: Focus on body shapes

Sensual Female Photography The female body offers endless variations as body shape alters in appearance with the use of lighting and different angles of vision.

The photo on the right makes use of a single piece of jewellery to compliment the model's body shape for maximum impact. Jewellery often accentuates skin texture and color in a very complimentary way.

Be on the look-out for basic geometric shapes and their relationships when composing images in sensual female photography. Simple triangles, ovals or parallel lines will add visual interest to the end-product.

Sensual Portrait Photography Tips # 8: Keep it natural

Sensual Photography
Sensual doesn't necessarily mean glamorous or overtly sexy. Some of the most appealing sensual portraits are the ones that allow a woman's natural beauty to shine through.

Some of my favorite erotic images are those of a woman in bed - just her face and maybe a hint of flesh between the sheets. That can be far more sensual than a completely nude woman.

For a natural shot, keep make-up to a minimum, employ a plain background and use ambient lighting if possible.

The motto here is, keep it simple!

Sensual Portrait Photography Tips # 9: Play with monochrome

Shooting in monochrome deserves a mention for capturing compelling sensual portraits. It's no coincidence that a lot of leading portrait photographers opt to work in black and white.

Black and white photos are fantastic in sensual female photography to highlight body lines and shapes. You also have to worry less about capturing correct skin tone or hiding blemishes.

A good monochrome portrait will usually stand out from the rest.

Sensual Portrait Photography Tips # 10: Be creative

Sensual Female Photography Give your creativity free reign and don't be afraid to try something different. In order to develop a unique style, you sometimes have to take a few risks.

Use different lenses to produce 'off-the-wall' portraits. Wide-angle and fisheye lenses, for example, are great to make things look larger than life. Play with different colored filters.

Experimental portraits can be very successful if they make the viewer look twice and hold their visual interest.
