A Child Photography Tip

Reader Post: 'I have read your articles on child photography and especially your children portrait photography tutorial with interest. I hope the following child photography tip helps other readers:
One of the best tips I've ever heard and use all the time is to get a child to sit still by handing them something of interest that they've never seen before just before you start shooting. Depending on the child's age, it can be as simple as a kitchen utensil or as complex as the latest and greatest electronic gadget. Simple toys usually work best. The look of wonder on their faces as they discover and explore is usually priceless.
After a few moments, say their name, and then get some pics of the child making eye contact with the camera too.
Props are great in child photography. Not only do they help to keep the child engaged (and sitting or standing still for a few precious moments), but they also add visual interest to your imagery.
